'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the thrilling closing stages of his team's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses after the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful effort from distance, and the defender promptly converted the deflection before racing off toward the home end to revel in the moment, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory capped an incredible recovery given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the second half. During the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

That win booked a upcoming match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that distance," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before moving to right flank after they changed formation. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way his former team approached the match.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the simple things and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they understand how to dictate and slow down a game. You can think you're doing well and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It requires a tough attitude and concentration just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at Orient and has rapidly replicated that in south Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a loan at lower division Salford, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without real physicality. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that development for club and country, shining for his national side, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including home and away fixtures against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This marks an incredible journey for the kid from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who used to see his dad, Stuart, also a central player, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

His single match for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to Astana, where they played on an plastic turf and the arena covering was closed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "That proved to be a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he says, grinning. "The preceding week, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "This turned out fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I knew I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it became apparent where I thought I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play men's football. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a small coach driven by academy staff, the transport team, which ferries players to and from practice and games.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to socialize with the lads but I'm planning to be the next one out of the minibus and driving. His teammate is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would blend in with fans on public transport after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
